2. Ziplining is Fun for the Entire Family
You don’t need any particular skill sets to be able to zipline and any age can do this as the little ones can go tandem safely with a professional guide. 3. Kayaking on one of our Local Lakes
Kayaking is one of our favorite Okanagan activities and because anyone can do it, it’s perfect for the whole family and the vast number of beautiful lakes make it a kayaking mecca! While we love Okanagan Lake for kayaking, another favorite is Vaseux Lake, well known for it’s wildlife. We also love that when you paddle the western sheltered lagoons you can always see the fish jumping! Another kayaking gem is Kalamalka Lake and includes a trip to Cosens Bay, or stop on the way at Juniper and Jade Bays. If it’s peace and quiet you’re craving, or maybe a little fishing, then check out the lake system up on the Aberdeen Plateau outside Vernon. If you don’t have a kayak of your own, we have plenty for rent throughout the Okanagan at very affordable prices, click here to browse.

If you love getting out in the sun and breathing in the pine and sage while sharing nature with your loved ones, grab your sunglasses and sunscreen, along with plenty of water, and head out on any of the numerous hiking trails found within the Valley. Here are a few websites that we thought might be helpful; Hiking Addiction Trails, Top 10 hiking trails near Kelowna, and All Trails, which even has a searchable function for terms like kid friendly! 10. Family Friendly Beach Days
The Okanagan is famous for sunny skies, fabulous lakes and hot sand beaches that rival the best in the world, so what better place is there to take the family?
Osoyoos has the warmest lake in Canada so spending a day at Lions Park Beach is the perfect summer family activity! Featuring grassy picnic areas, soft sands, a convenient downtown location and the usual beach amenities, this is the ideal beach location in Osoyoos. There are lots of fun things to do on the water too, like wakeboarding or renting a boat, jetski or SUP.
Skaha Beach in Penticton is known for it walking path running a full km along Skaha Lake and is part of a 20 acre park. This beach has many extra amenities such as floating docks, beach slides, beach volleyball, a hockey ball court and basketball area. There’s also a boat launch and marina, two popular concessions, and if you’re around during Peachfest we highly recommend you take in the amazing sand art competition!
We chose two great beaches for Kelowna; Boyce-Gyro Beach and Hot Sands Beach in downtown City Park. Both offer the usual beach facilities and sand volleyball courts plus Boyce-Gyro has water and sand ziplines for the kids. Hot Sands Beach also has lawn bowling, a children’s waterpark, tennis courts, a soccer field and even a skateboard park.
