Discover this Bird Watchers’ Paradise at the Vaseux Lake Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

Vaseux Lake is known for having some of the highest species diversity in all of Canada!  During your Bird Watching Tour you’ll also be seeing many of the rare and unusual habitats that make this area so special.  Catch a glimpse of Canada’s rarest reptile, or view Mountain Goats or Big Horn Sheep from the van.  Surrounded by three separate Wildlife Protected Areas Vaseux Lake is just over an hour’s drive south of Kelowna.

You’ll be happy to hear that Vaseux Lake has had over 205 different bird species observed in the area; well over half of Canada’s 340 recorded species. Some of the red-listed species you may see include the Peregrine Falcon, the American White Pelican and Lewis’s Woodpecker.  Grab your binoculars or viewing scopes because you’ll also commonly see Trumpeter Swans, Loons, Great Blue Herons and Western Screech Owls.  This area is truly a birders’ paradise!

At Vaseux Lake we’ll be observing birds from the boardwalk and viewing tower.  You’ll even have an opportunity to explore with your guide some of the 10 red-listed ecological communities for birds and other flora and fauna.  We’ve also thrown in a surprise cultural stop for you.

Additional Information

• A minimum booking of two people is required, or a maximum of 14.  For larger groups please contact us.
• This tour typically lasts approximately 4 hours and is rated as easy.  The best months for bird watching are April, May, September and October.
• The Vaseux Lake Bird Watching Tour is suitable for ages 6 and older.  For children 5 and under a child carrier is required.  Cost is $59 for children 12 and under and $105 for ages 13 and older.
• Please bring with you; comfortable walking shoes, a water bottle ( minimum 1 L), hat and sunscreen and binoculars or viewing scopes if you have them.  We also supply binoculars and scopes for use as well if you don’t have your own.

What’s Included

Your guide will pick you in our luxury air conditioned van anywhere from Kelowna to Penticton.  The exact time will be confirmed by the tour provider depending on where you are.

We will also supply a snack and bottled plain or sparkling water.  An optional organic boxed lunch and drink can be pre-ordered for an additional $17.00.
