Explore the rich history and culture of the Indigenous People of the Shuswap

Explore the rich history of the Secwépemc people as you paddle down the South Thompson River on your way to Riverside Park, in downtown Kamloops. Paddlers will learn about the land and surrounding areas once used for hunting and gathering by the Indigenous People. Following the canoe journey guests will be taken to the Secwépemc Museum. At the museum guests will learn about the Secwépemc culture and the rich heritage of the 17 bands of the Secwépemculecw (Secwépemc land) home. The museum exhibits life before European contact and information on the Kamloops Indian Residential School history. The highlight of your tour will be when you are taken back in time as you hear the legends of these Indigenous people.

Tours run from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with the meeting location being confirmed upon booking.

Please note: There must be a total of 8 participants for tour to proceed. All Canoes are wheelchair accessible.
